BRIGHAM THE BREAKER
Poor, Brigham, he got his Dad's breaking disease. I love him so much but I wonder if I will have anything left unbroken when he leaves the house. HOLY COW! Luckily, his Dad also knows how to fix loads of things so HOPEFULLY Brig will acquire that skill as well. At this point though, if he is not breaking it, he is taking it apart. I call him my little Engineer. He is so curious about the world around him and his way of understanding it is to take it apart. Just yesterday he came home from his Dad's house with a typewriter - COMPLETELY TAKEN APART - now what am I suppose to do with that? Well, according to Brig I am suppose to preserve it for later generations because he will not let me throw it away. In fact, he wants to continue taking it apart. Okay, I have nothing against curiousity but not in the middle of my living room so.....I have directed his curiousity to the garage. I hear all kinds of sounds from that garage that on occassion concern me but....I just let him go. I am sure my little BRIGHAM BREAKER will build something amazing and be world famous for it so I shouldnt complain to much, right??????
PAIGEY AND PURSES
Oh my goodness! My little princess is ga ga about purses! She has so many purses I started storing them in basement on nails attached to her play house. She is the accessory queen lately. She wants her outfits complete with earings, necklaces, braclets, belts, matching socks, and of course A PURSE. Generally, she has nothing in the purse - she just wants to carry it around. Isnt that funny! Lately, she has decided that she better think about what to put in her purse so she carries her Nintendo DS and some lip gloss. We recently went to a Relief Society function and they had a swap table where .... you guessed it.... she found 3 more purses. She is the queen of collections as well and she has quite the collection of purses. If I had to give you a ballpark figure I would guess at least 25. So, I dont buy purses anymore, I just borrow them from Paigey.

BUTTONS - Oh does she love buttons! We had so many that I decided I'd better do something with them. So, I decorated her room with them. We put plaster of paris in a tin pie pan and she set an assortment of buttons into it. I then placed a polk a dotted ribbon in the plaster of paris and bam we had ourselves a beautiful wall hanging! We didnt stop there though - nope - we made cool designs and pattersn on paper and matted then frame them. We even decorated the white frames themselves. And, yes....she still has sooooo many.
This age is loads of fun! I am blessed to have a daughter and I tell her that all the time.

Chandler is now PRESIDENT MCNIEL
Chandler was ordained the President of his Deacons Quorum. The Bishop ordained him on Sunday, March 15th and I was present to witness it. He was beaming when the blessing was done. Each man in the circle shook his hand and said congratulations PRESIDENT MCNIEL. Well...he just thought that was the best! He will be praying about counselors this next week. He will also be attending BYU and the Aaronic Priesthood Committee. He is a born leader! I am so proud of him and the example he is to his peers.
Chandler's First Talk in Sacrament
Before Chandler wrote his talk we had a FHE on Unity. We created an information web with the word UNITY in the middle. We then wrote lines from the word Unity and explored what it meant. We attempted to organize our thoughts by asking questions like - Who? What? Where? When? Why? and How? After answering these questions we shared personal experiences about when we felt unity the most in our lives. We then looked at the scriptures - the Bible Dictionary, Topical Guide and read what we found. We included all of these things on our information web. Finally, we looked at what the prophets had to say about Unity. We then gave the information web to Chandler to take to his room so he could produce an interesting and fun talk. He did a great job. Here it is.....
Good Morning brothers and sisters. Today I am going to give a talk on Unity. When Brother Christan called me..... (he then told a funny story about how he thought the topic was PUNITY and later asked me what that was - we had a good laugh.)
We can feel unity in many places in our lives. The most important place we feel unity is in our families. Some other words for unity are: togetherness, getting along, and love. David O. McKay said, "Unity and its synonyms - harmony, goodwill, peace, concord, mutual understanding- express a condition for which the human heart constantly yearns." Alma tells us how Heavenly Father wants us to act in order to feel unity in our lives. We can read about that in the book of Mosiah Chapter 18 verse 21. It reads, ".....Page 182" (Chandler then took out his Book of Mormon and read from the scriptures) IF you look up unity in the topical guide you will find the words family and love. It also gives the scripture Psalms 133, verse 1 which reads, "Pagge 802......." (Chandler then took our the bible and read from the scriptures) Heavenly Father is trying to tell us that we will feel pleasant or happy inside if we choose unity rather than contention or arguing.
So it is our Families that we want to be unified with. The time that I felt most unified with my family, Jesus Christ, and Heavenly Father was when I recieved the Aaronic Priesthood. All of my fmaily in Delaware - my Dad, Mom, brother, sister, Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and Granma and Granpa from Delaware and my Grandma and Grandpa from Texas ALL came to be apart of my ordination. It was really special because they were all there to support me. We feel unified when we are together for the same purpose. Just like when my whole family came together for the purpose of my ordination.
To feel unified everyone needs to be getting along and have a good attitude. When we are unified we are happy and enjoying one another. Just like Alma said, we can not be arguing, fighting, or being contenious in any other way. We can feel unity better in our lives when we do the simple things like have personal and family scripture study, personal and family prayer, and family home evening. The simple things are important even though they may not seem like it. We also need to so the harder things like following the commandments. Keeping the commandments keeps us unified with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. If we mess up, we can always pray and ask for forgiveness. IF we do that we can be unified with our families for all of eternity and be eternally happy.
David O. McKay said, "WE must avoid attitudes and actions that lead to DISUNITY. One of the first conditions that will bring about disunity will be selfishness." Wilford Woodruff said, "There should not be a selfish feeling ont he aprt of any portion of a family...." He went on to say that we shoujld not think or say, "I DO NOT CARE WHAT BECOMES OF THIS, THAT OR THE OTHER IF I CAN ONLY GET WHAT I WANT MYSELF" This is selfishness and it produces DISUNITY. To feel unified in our family we have to think of others and not just ourselves. We can not feel unity and feel selfishness at the same time.
It is my testimony that if we feel love one to another as Christ has loved us, we will be able to easily get along, forgive one another and be filled with peace. I testify taht the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. I know if we work at being unified in our families we will live with them in our Heavely Fathers presence for all of eternity.
IT WAS A GREAT TALK! He did not seem nervous although he said he was. One of the best parts of that day was that his Dad came to support him. That meant the world to Chandler.
